*Ganpati Chaturthi Revolutionized: First-ever Vegan Celebration at Siddhi Vinayak Temple, NJ*

Lawrenceville, NJ — On September 7, 2024, history was made at the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Lawrenceville as devotees gathered to celebrate Ganpati Chaturthi in an unprecedented vegan format. Initiated by World Vegan Vision, the celebration emphasized compassion and environmentalism through the exclusive use of plant-based offerings for the entire ceremony.

The bold initiative, led by Mr. Dilip Upadhaya and supported by prominent figures like Nina & Nitin Vyas, Utkarsh Pandya, and the Modi family, was warmly received by the community. The day’s events started with traditional Ganesh Staphana rituals and were enriched by evening bhajans featuring Sangeeta Ji and Aditi Banerjee’s group.

A highlight of the event was Dr. Shrenik Shah’s insightful discourse on the importance of incorporating vegan principles in religious ceremonies to promote planetary health. Attendees included influential community leaders such as Founder H k & Malti Shah, Vice Chairman Satish Karnidkar, WVV of Dedicated Volunteers Dipti Sheth & Jason, Philanthropy Piyush Patel, Arista Care Mukund / Rama Thakkar, Royal Rice Kaushik / Dipti Vyas ,Mrs. & Mr. Jitu Bhai Fadia,& Indo American Mrs & Mr, Mukund Parikh, Show Promoter Mrs & Mr Ravi Patel and many others who contributed to this landmark event.

The celebration concluded with a vibrant Aarti, Bhajan, and a unique Vegan Maha Prasaadum, serving over 300 participants. The successful event was coordinated by Nitin Vyas, highlighting a transformative step toward more sustainable and compassionate religious practices.
