Outreach at Guruvayurappan Temple in Morganville NJ
We participated in the monthly health screening event at the temple organized by a local Lions Club. Many local doctors and medical students volunteer at this event and provide health screenings. World Vegan Vision provided healthy diet outreach. We were able to meet the founder of SAMHIN, a nonprofit helping S. Asians in mental health issues and may start collaborating with them. Many thanks to Dr. Shrenik Shah, Ms. Neetu Jindal, Mr. Nirvaan Agarwal, Ms. Varinia Mamidi, Ms. Abha Devarajan, Ms. Maha Raman, Ms. Dipti Sheth and Mr. Avinash Kachhy for volunteering at this outreach event. Many individuals were explained the need to exclude dairy and other animal products from their diet for optimum health. We hope to continue to participate in this monthly event on the last Sunday of each month. You can see additional photos and a short video here. We also met the founder of SAMHIN and may be able to work with them in the future. In addition, we met a young lady from India who was working in the temple gift shop to save money for creating a video for vegan outreach. We offered her support in promoting her video when it is ready and some other resources to make it happen.
February
Dr. Kalindi Bakshi, President NJ chapter will conduct a healthy plant based cooking demonstration to a younger generation audience at the Arya Samaj temple in Ridgewood NJ. This is the best way to spread our message as the younger generation is far more receptive to ethical and logical reasoning and is able to readily change their diet and other habits.
